Young Spokesperson Training
18th - 19th February 2017
We all know that Scouting is fantastic, and gives us
life-changing opportunities that we might not get anywhere else, but have you
ever wondered how to get that message to more people? We’re running a course to
train young people aged 14-22 in how to speak up about Scouting in the media,
in public, and online.
The Young Spokesperson course, designed to train young people in media and
influencing skills, will run in Scotland at Fordell Firs National Activity Centre,
near Dunfermline, on 18-19 February 2017.
Whether you want to develop skills to chat on the radio about why more people
should join Scouting, give presentations on the difference your group makes in
your community, or act as an ambassador for Scouting online or in person, this
course will provide everything you need to know.
Participants will gain skills in:
• Presenting
• Speaking on the radio
• Appearing on broadcast television
• Taking part in interviews with print journalists
• Interacting with the media
• Supporting Scouting through social media
Over the past three years we have seen our Young Spokespeople go on to host the Scouts Scotland AGM, become MSYPs, appear on the radio, appear in the Herald as well as many different roles at local leve
The course is free for participants thanks to Young People Taking the Lead funding from the Scottish Government. Places on the course are limited, so book your place quickly. All accommodation and meals will be provided.
If you are interested in taking part in this course or know of any young people who would enjoy this opportunity, please email shq@scouts.scot
